Whisky, Diamonds & Sydney Lights: Staff Picks You Can't Miss! (2026)

In the world of luxury and lifestyle, there's always something new and exciting to uncover. This week, we're diving into three captivating experiences that have left a lasting impression on our team. From a whisky-tasting extravaganza to a documentary that challenges our perceptions and a cruise that showcases the beauty of Sydney, get ready for an adventure through the latest Staff Favourites.

The Macallan Whisky Dinner Experience: A Night to Remember

As an avid whisky enthusiast, I was thrilled to attend The Macallan Whisky Dinner Experience at the Hyatt Regency Sydney. The Macallan, a Speyside distillery with a rich heritage dating back to 1824, has been my go-to brand since I first ventured into the world of whisky. Its benchmark status in the collectable Scotch market is undeniable, with a single bottle of The Macallan 1926 selling for over AUD$4 million at auction.

The evening's lineup was nothing short of impressive, featuring four curated drams: the classic Double Cask 12, the Rare Cask, and the latest release from the Harmony Collection, Honey Orchid Tea, created in collaboration with artist Jing-Phoenix. Each pour was paired with a menu of smoked duck, coffee-rubbed lamb loin, and charcoal-grilled Wagyu beef cheek, with The Macallan's Brand Ambassador guiding us through the history behind each expression.

What made this experience truly special was the opportunity to engage with like-minded whisky enthusiasts and immerse ourselves in the rich heritage of The Macallan. It was a night filled with delicious food, exquisite whisky, and captivating storytelling.

Michael Jackson: The Verdict - A Documentary That Challenges Our Perceptions

Hannah Maher, our Sales & Partnerships Coordinator, recently watched the new Michael Jackson documentary on Netflix. What struck her the most was how quickly it challenged her preconceived notions about the iconic pop star. Instead of steering towards a simple answer, the documentary laid out all the facts and allowed the tension to sit there.

The documentary holds two things at once: the music and the level of success Michael Jackson achieved, which is still hard to compare to anyone else, and the more difficult parts of his story that the documentary doesn't shy away from. It's a constant switch between the two as you watch, making you look at his legacy in a new light.

Even if you already feel familiar with Michael Jackson's story, this documentary makes you look at it differently. It's less about reaching a final opinion and more about understanding the complexity of his legacy.

Samsung Sky Portal Harbour Cruise Experience: A Celebration of Sydney

Rob Edwards, our Branded Content Editor, had the good fortune to spend an evening on Sydney Harbour with Samsung. The cruise, which took place during the Vivid Light Festival, offered a spectacular reminder of the beauty of Sydney.

Boarding The Jackson, arguably Sydney's most well-known superyacht, Rob cruised around the harbour, passing the Opera House and heading under the Harbour Bridge. The main event was the airlift of the Sky Portal, an enormous creation weighing over a tonne and sporting dual screens measuring 8m by 2.5m each. The screens displayed a collaborative film shot entirely with Samsung Galaxy S26 devices, capturing a snapshot of 24 hours in Sydney.

The film, co-created with the people of Sydney via thousands of user-generated content submissions and photographers Benjamin Lee and Tim Northey, celebrated Sydney's many faces, including iconic beaches, suburban scenes, and urban cityscapes. From there, fireworks ensued, followed by a quick journey back to dry land. Sydney, I'm sorry for ever taking you for granted.
